La Pizzuta del Principe has its headquarters on the property of the Ranieri Family who manages it since the beginning of the last century based in Strongoli, Crotone province, Calabria.
The Val di Neto lands, near Crotone, where people produced the most important Calabrian PDO and PGI, have always been a land of vineyards, ancient grapes and unique wines, which has its roots in antiquity when Crotone, known in ancient times as Kroton, was the dominant city of Magna Grecia.
La Pizzuta del Principe mission stems from the desire to produce PDO and PGI wines and to enhance the grapes that have made the history of this land in respect of ancient traditions and naturalness in order to make an excellent wine from native grapes, the memory of which goes far back to the ancient Greeks and which are enriched by this land of unique flavors and fragrances: an alchemy we cannot find in other place.
The vineyard area covers 13 hectares. Grapes are all native: Pecorello, Greco Bianco and Montonico as white grapes, Gaglioppo, Greco Nero and Magliocco Canino as red grapes.
The Winery has completed the conversion into organic farming and with the 2017 harvest all the wines will be organic certified.
The wines produced, expressive of this territory are: Molarella Pecorello I.G.P. Bianco, Calastrazza I.G..P. Val di Neto Rosato, Annp Quinto I.G.P. Val di Neto Rosso, Jacca Ventu Melissa D.O.P. Val di Neto Rosso, Zingamaro Greco Nero I.G.P. Val di Neto Rosso.
